Case Studies
Ravensdown Fertilizer
Awatoto, No 2 Den Belt 0761M, Applied Conveyor
Back in 1999 when Applied Conveyor first set up to supply quality Fenner Dunlop belt we were fortunate enough that the engineers and maintenance people saw some merit in using a quality product, however, it is difficult to justify a 20-30% price difference on a "saleman's pitch". Pricing was only part of the picture, the aim was to reduce belt maintenance costs, plan maintenance, reduce downtime and increase plant availability.
Ravensworth Overland
When it came to looking at upgrading the old Ravensworth East Overland System that carries product into the Macquarie Generation Power Stations from the Mount Owen side of Hebden Road just outside Singleton in NSW, Hunter Valley Coal Corporation set about looking at their options. The performance of the existing belt was a good start point and upon closer inspection it was realised that the bulk of the 6000m+ of belt on the M6, M7 & M8 systems was an old Apex Ply Belt KN150 (Kuralon Nylon) 4Ply with 3x1.5mm M grade covers and was approaching 20 years operating life.
Winstone Aggregates
Hunua Quarry, CV03 Primary Belt, New Zealand
Fenner Dunlop were not involved in the initial contract for supply of conveyor belt. Early into the hand over we were called in to supply Apex Ply belt because of it's proven reputation for superior quality, and many of the other Winstones plants were using Apex Ply belt with good results.
McBreen Jenkins
Turiwiri Quarry Mobile Crushing Plant, New Zealand
McBreen Jenkins purchased a new mobile crushing and screening plant in 2001 with a maximum capacity of 150 tp hr .The plant was set up in Dargaville at McBreen Jenkins Turiwiri Quarry. Applied Conveyor was not involved in the original supply of conveyor belt but were asked by John Binds of McBreen Jenkins to look at the belts.
Mount Owen Mine
Question....does Apex Plied Rubber Conveyor Belt, deserve to be the Industry Leader
From the results that we achieve in the field as opposed to just promising to buyers, we can see no other answer but YES. Fenner Dunlop has always maintained that buying the right belt as opposed to the initial cheapest belt, provides the most cost effective solution in the long term.
Moranbah North Coal Mine
Anglo Coal, Moranbah, Queensland, Australia
After first opening in the 1990s, the Moranbah North Coal Mine, Queensland began to experience problems with the trunk conveyor belt, which suffered splice failures and delamination. For a mine producing around five million tons of coal per year, the poor reliability of the belt was a major problem, which eventually became intolerable.
